The holidays are known for being a stressful time of year – gift shopping, harsh weather, waning sunlight, family gatherings and so on. When you're a pregnant celebrity, you're adding to that the pressure of gaining weight in the public eye! Thankfully, yoga classes can help all expectant mothers – in Hollywood and beyond – maintain good health.
"Exercise can help combat stress, keep the blood flowing, help prevent too much weight gain and ward off depression," said celebrity fitness guru Kristin McGee, who teaches prenatal yoga, Pilates and low impact cardio to the likes of Tina Fey and Bethenny Frankel.
When combined with breastfeeding and dieting, yoga and other physical activities are also useful for helping women get back into shape after delivery, McGee said, as quoted by Access Hollywood.
As of 2008, about 15.8 million American adults reported practicing yoga, according to the Yoga Journal. Nearly one-half of those surveyed said they took up the exercise in order to improve their overall health. More than 72 percent of yoga practitioners are women.
When it comes to pregnant women, Santa Fe yoga classes and similar courses can help them prepare for labor, strengthen their arms to hold their babies, build endurance and align the pelvis, Yoga Journal said.
