New Mexico yoga classes can support those with life struggles

Attending New Mexico yoga classes may be one of the best things an individual can do for their health. The holistic mind-body regimen originated in Asia many centuries ago, but has since garnered popularity and respect among Westerners for its physical, mental and emotional benefits. Millions of Americans count yoga among their other good health habits, like getting plenty of rest and eating a nutritious diet.

The program can also help people overcome life struggles. Yoga instructor Ana Forrest is one of these individuals, according to Tampa Bay Online. She began drinking and smoking at a young age, and endured abuse from her parents that led her to become bulimic and suicidal. Eventually, she dropped out of high school to become a horse trainer.

Over the years, Forrest discovered yoga and found that practicing its breathing exercises, poses and stretches strengthened her both physically and emotionally.

"I began to realize yoga was doing something for me. There's a lot of value to it," she told the news source. "It's about a path of freedom. Where there's emotional or physical blockage, to begin to help people focus their intent and their breath, we learn to start to put the breath where that blockage is, so it begins to change."
